How to Find Us

Michigan Tech is located in Houghton, MI, in the heart of the scenic and historic Keweenaw Peninsula. The Chicago Tribune called it one of the "Best Little Towns of the Midwest." Houghton is easily accessible from major Midwestern cities by car, Greyhound Bus Lines, and by air on Northwest Airlines.
The Keweenaw is home to Copper Harbor and the Keweenaw National Historical Park, and is a springboard for many other destinations such as Isle Royale National Park and the Porcupine Mountains State Park. The region has some of the most scenic views available in the Midwest, with mountains, waterfalls, forests, and hundreds of miles of shoreline. The Keweenaw offers four seasons of endless possibilities.
Houghton and its sister city Hancock (combined pop. 13,000) feature a variety of shopping, dining, and lodging options. The cities are host to festivals such as Michigan Tech's Winter Carnival and Bridgefest, in honor of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge that joins the two communities.
